UAD-2 to replace one PTHD card?

Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me with certainty the pros and cons of selling one Pro Tools HD Accel process card and replacing it with a new UAD-2 card (the "quad" perhaps) in a currently PTHD3 system?

My UAD-1 introduces 274 samples of delay in HD. I have long ADC on anyway, so this is not really a problem.

UAD-2 does not work with PT yet, but hopefully it is the same or better.

my UAD-1 cards, while they work in PTHD, introduce much more latency.

how do you get it down so low?!

I think there are many options plugin wise that are similar to the UAD that you could take and not the lose the extra processing power when you eliminate a card. Dont forget you lose DSP mixing power, which is gonna diminish the amount of send outputs, aux tracks, track count etc.. not just plugin power.

Just my two cents

All RTAS plug-ins have latency, and require the use of delay compensation. I have no problems with the UAD-1 with delay compensation engaged.

7.3 PT HD on a pc, XP SP3.

512 buffer for mixing and i get nearly / about 2000 samples delay for each high-DSP UAD plug, eg 33609... (will have to check back in with it for the exact number)

i spent a while fussing and fighting to get the system to play nice and 512 buffer, etc. is working fine, but i would LOVE to get the latency down.

i have 3 x UAD-1e PCI-e and an HD2 PCI. Intel quad-core custom built pc. had to limit RTAS to 3 cores / processors, leaving one free to run the show... might be something to do with my 4-head NVidia Quadro NVS-440 video card, or the 3 x UAD-1e, or both! bloody black magic this stuff...
