not mine, but where I do most of my "real" work,

the console is a 1974 EMI Neve

apparently it is the only non modified one left in the world..

Looking at Killahurts' spot, I envision folks, instead of wearing white lab coats a la Abbey Road, dressed in starfleet uniforms.

This is a picture of version 7.1 of my studio. In 15 years it has gone through a lot of changes. My two cents: Try to think about the future (lots of conduits!) and know in a couple of years (if you're lucky) you'll be changing it.
My construction motto:
If you don't have a schedule, you won't be behind schedule.
If you don't have a budget, you won't go over budget.
Good luck!

Thanks. It works quite well for me. I don't mind standing and I like having things at eye level. It's a big front end for Pro Tools or my little used 2". So I don't usally need to get at it when I'm mixing.
The rack can be accessed in the machine room through the door. You can get at all the wiring by removing one screw and sliding two panels out. All without bending down. I'm getting old!

Bongo,

I really like your studio, and your gear

What do you do about air in that room behind the racks? Bet it can get hot in there!

Thanks

The rack has an air return built into the top. It sucks it into the HVAC system.

Okay, here's a few. First off , here's my own "control room" in Beijing, where I was producing music for the China Central Television network last week.

You noticed the wall mounted Dynes in the Neve room? Sounded amazing. Actually, they had had S3A's in the Oxford room the week previous to my arrival, but when I was there we mixed on NS-10's. When Klaus asked them what they thought of the ADAMs they indicated that they thought they were very much like NS-10's, which oddly enough is a conclusion I had reached as well. (to me, the S3A's are like mixing on NS-10's but without having to listen to NS-10's!)

In any case, the mixes the guy did on the Oxford using NS-10's totally rocked.

A very talented bunch, for which I was grateful, because due both to cultural inertia and language barriers I would have had a hard time forcing my own agenda.

Man that tracking room is fantastic. Klaus Heinz? I have a brother named Klaus... Seems like the best of both worlds (hee hee).

Looks like my old pic link is dead, here's an updated shot. Currently finishing building a little desk for the Speck mixer, and bringing it on-line.

Here's my little place. I'm still working on it, but I'm getting there. Just ordered 10 Mini Traps to improve the crappy rook acoustics a little bit. The noisy Mac will be moved into another room, too.

It's a beautiful thing!

I noticed the foot stool.

Classical guitar...what make and wood?
What piece were you recording?

Ever study the Cello Suite (G) by Bach transcribed for guitar (D)?

Foot stool does give it away! yes a classical guitarist I am mainly and I did study in depth the 3rd Cello Suite at college though that Prelude from the 1st can hook you in pretty good. Overall the 3rd had the most rewarding music to study having to recite a complete suite. Guitar these days is an Augustino LoPrinzi though I have a Ramirez, Oribe (that sold recently) and Ruck. I think they are all made of wood... yes heh
Not recording but composing some recently. Been helping some others with thier recordings, mostly acoustic based. I have a nice tracking room, and drum room. Been getting some decent sounds with all this fancy gear. I'll have a site on line shortly with samples of stuff. Thanks Rob

Great thread!
Here is an old one....none of the new toys but, what I got.
Note the live room construction.....still going.....

Now lay off the beringer and 001 jokes.....I don't have the B anymore and the 001 sounds fine being fed by my AD8000.
