Hey I'm cool, I wasn't sure though.
Nothing earthshattering in the racks.
Masterlink, Sony Minidisc, Panasonic Dat,
USD, 888|24, 882|20, Magma w/d24 + dsp(2), drives.

Allaire's room is A-MAAAAAZ-ING.
It looks kinda like Dark Horse Studios.
I wouldn't care about the accoustics if I could just play the piano for about 3hrs and enjoy the view!

Dark Horse.....I call it 'perfect horse'.......I dare any mother ducker to beat that place...........I don't care what's in the rack's when confronted by multi-million build quality.

One day.............(but not a copy of it!!)

juniorhifikit, in the old days they used to say,
"two turn tables and a mic"

your studio says, "two flat screens and a plasma"

such balance.

is there latency with your Oxygen8/MAudio small keyboard
you have there at all? I just picked one up myself, haven't
plugged it in yet. Is yours running USB, or Standard Midi?

The Oxygen8 is USB to a G4. Latency under OS9.2 depends on the application. The TDM Virus has virtually no latency. Sound manager stuff has some. Under OS10 using ProTools and Reason, I'm quite satisfied.

I don't actually own that room. I just built it and mix commercials there. This is home for composing:

guitar vocorder

Junior HiFi kit...

I noticed your guitar 'vocorder' sitting atop the fender head.

All I ever had was a red funnel turned upside down and duct-taped to an old beat-up speaker with some tubing attached to the end of the funnel, snaking it's way up to the mic.

...but it DID work back in the days when we were covering Aerosmith, Frampton and Bon Jovi tunes.

No pics, though. it was extremely ugly and, also, I haven't seen that thing in 10 years. :(

I use to use an Auratone/plastic tubing/lots of duct tape. For some reason I've had several requests for this sound lately (probably due to Shania or Madonna), and was fortunate enough to have a friend with the real deal. Why he has one I have no clue - he's a jazzer.

Yeah, that's a Shure 300 - probably needs a new ribbon. It's kind of pinched sounding compared to an RCA77, but had the right flavor for a certain part. The SSL control room is Laughing Tiger in San Raphael, CA. It belongs to my friend Ari. I helped him a little on the design. I really like the Ultimation on the SSL, the room is nice & big, and the piano is nice too.

Here's where I spend most of my time. Not exactly "designer chic" but it's been gettin' the job done since '75. Would love to win the lottery and put in a new space......dream on.

OK, I think I've found my favourite forum! Gorgeous pics! Here are my workplace. It's more a composers studio than a recording studio.

The studio is based on ProTools HD3, Control24 and some nice Pre's (Milennia, Great River, Avalon). Currently looking for an analog mixer, preferably a SSL 4000G+.

The picture is a few months old, so things have changed now. Some Avalon U5's are in the rack, my live keyboardrig was out of the studio when the pictures were takin, bla, bla, bla. And my GORGEOUS Hammond B3 / Leslie 122 is in the recording room. No pics of that yet.

Btw, I'm just back from a 3-day workshop with Bruce Swedien. Now, THAT'S a gearslut when it comes to microphones!

Here's my ****hole after a long couple days of tracking.

BTW, if people would post smaller pics it would be way cooler 'cause we can see the whole room without scrolling around. 450 to 500 pixels wide, 72 dpi is PLENTY big enough.

these pictures are extremely useful if you are building a control room yourself and you need DETAIL... by looking at all these different kind of setups you get a lot of great ideas!
