This thread is basically name your best gear, but I'll play.

I'll never part with my 3 1176s (two F's and a D) or my low, sequential serial number KM84s that had never been used before I bought them last year.

I have gotten rid of every single piece of gear that I swore to myself I would never get rid of over the years. At the moment I would hope that I would not get rid of my vintage 1081's and my Pultec anytime soon, but who knows. There is no real golden calf here.

My Les Pauls. Custom and Standard. Although ironically I have been playing my strat and tele a lot for sessions.

My La3a, GR, Neve 1073 and 414 will always stay around too. Others may come and go.

I'm sitting here looking at all the gear I have and wondering which one I would never get rid of and I'm still sitting here..... heh

Actually I realize that I'm not attached to any particular gear and if I sold it all, I'd be as happy as if I owned it. I'm the type that uses whatever gear is available in a particular studio to get the job done.

Interesting thread though and what would make it even more interesting is revisiting this thread one year from now and seeing how answers changed/stayed the same.

1966 guild starfire bass forever a keeper

I GUESS THIS IS ONE BASS I WOULD MOST LIKE TO KEEP. HAD IT SO LONG NOW IT IS LIKE FAMILY. NOT A MARK ON IT, ALWAYS USED FLATWOUNDS FOR THAT BLUES & JAZZ WARM SOUND, ALSO GOOD FOR MOTOWN OR ANYTHING REALLY. I HAVE TOO MANY BASSES 4 & 5 STRING BUT THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE 4 STRING BASSES.

NEVER FAILS, WHEN I USE IT, AND THAT IS QUITE RARE NOW, SOMEONE IS TRYING TO BUY IT, MAYBE EVEN STEAL IT, BUT I NEVER LET IT OUT OF MY SIGHT AND REACH. SERIAL NUMBER IS THE 201st ONE MADE BY GUILD IN 1966 ALL NATURAL MAHOGANY SATIN FINISH. NEVER SAW ANOTHER ONE LIKE IT. THEY MUST NOT HAVE STAMPED THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE HEADSTOCK ON ALL INSTRUMENTS BECAUSE MINE IS NOT STAMPED, AND IS NOT A DEARMOND, IT IS THE REAL DEAL. DOES ANYBODY KNOW ABOUT THE HEADSTOCK STAMPING ISSUE?

THANKS TO ALL FOR A GREAT SITE. CHEERS, STEVE email [email protected]
