Slutz,

Week 2 :

Fireproofing the ceiling is now complete and as our space is in a basement the damp proofing guys are due in tomorrow.

Next weeks marks the start of the build in earnest, the floating floors will be constructed and also the walls for some of the rooms will begin.

The pics are a bit bland but at least it's going to be a true reflection of how the build is progressing.

Peace

Looking good 'n' bare

Will be building a new studio in the coming months, your pics have brought home to me what I've forgotten since last time: How ****ing long it takes to do anything!

Man, I'm tied up with red tape at the moment with planning permissions, new mortgages and local council regulations - I can't even think about whether I want a pool table in the downstairs lounge or a jacuzzi upstairs dammit

heh

Keep the pics coming Dave, Cheers Rich

Rich,

Red tape is all part of the game, if that's not enough the authorities want to charge you for it !!

I know it looks bare and the pics are a bit boring at the moment but I wanted to share a weekly record of the progress so people can see what's actually involved in building a professional space.

Bear with me, it'll get better !

w2w,

It's an old glassworks basement, the walls are brilliant and will form part of the industrial look of the buliding when it's complete, stick with us and watch this space !

Peace

Week 3

I think we are just about on track

Here is another "bare" shot showing the walls of what will be the LR and CR with the Damp Proofing system applied to the walls. We had to diamond cut a 6" channel around all the walls and the put in a custom drain system to stop the basement from flooding

This view is from the CR into the LR

At least we can now see the shape of the place !

Week 5 - Probably the toughest week of my life

RichT's post "2005 Sucks" could not have been more apt.

With week 4 out of the way and things seemingly going OK, the studio build was coming together and things in general were cool.

Then within the space of a week.

1. My dad was diagnosed with Lukeamia
2. We have had some major issues with funding and lease of the building
3. I have had a 7 day illness which floored me for 3 days in bed

So here we are at the end of week 5, all cried out, drained and tired but still we press on.. Depending on how my dad's treatment goes I may suspend the build for up to six months so I can be there for him..

Anyway here are the most recent pics...
