Crane Song STC-8 or GML 8900 for you....

For me unfortunately, as I review fiscal 2002, I think I'm going to have to try to limit my purchases in 2003 to hard drives and tape . . . .

and diapers beginning in June heh

.. . and some Royer 122s and maybe some more Klein + Hummel monitors... aww, dammit. . I'm screwed.

Well, here is the wishlist for 2003

Euphonix Transferstation (w/Nuendo)
Crane Song STC-8
MADI cards for both Sony boards
Soundelux 47iFet
Royer SF-12
Mac with DVD-R drive
another Soundelux E-47
another T.C. M6000

I'm sure this list will be extended as the year goes by, but I think it's a good start.

I've got plenty of gear on the tracking side of things, except maybe another MP-2 tube pre. I'd have to say, a Manley Massive Passive of my own, and perhaps the tube tech multiband compressor. Depending on a couple variables, an HD rig to go with my Mix+. I'll keep my eye on Crangsong too.

1) SPL Transient Designer
2) Little labs IBP
3) SanAmp Bass pedal / DI
4) Messa Boogie recording head (or pod XT pro or Vetta pre amp (if ever made))
5) Expanding my PT rigs DSP power with a new G4 mac & 2 x extra Mix farms

No rush with any of the above... The list may change,

Soundelux U47 tube mic (forget Soundelux model #)
New stereo buss compressor (haven't decided which one)
Telefunken V72, 76s (really want these)
New motorcycle (looking forward to this)
New car (probable)
Finish remodeling 2 of our iso booths, lounge and kitchen
The Little Labs stuff that I am going to win next month

I'm sure there will be more gear purchases, but shit . . I look around here and think . . there are some guys with much more gear, there are some guys with much better gear, but there is plenty of damn good stuff here to make great records without spending buttloads of more dough. I can go crazy trying to "keep up" or worrying about what someone else has or some company is coming out with.

I am going to do some shit for ME this year.

I spent up in December with Calrec, API, Studio furniture, LCD, Sony comp and have a Royer stereo on the way

Next purchase will be a better set of speaker to replace my KRK v6's. Will try Quested's, ATC and PMC after new year.
Then if my lease gets resigned, do the acoustics properly, otherwise I will be looking at moving.

Other then that some outboard Comps and EQ would be nice, but I am not drolling over anything at the moment.

The only things for sure are the Audiotronics Pre/EQ that the tech already has. I'm also planing on a BIG diffuser for the wall behind the drums. I need to solidify the vibe of the live room and keep tuning the acoustics of the whole place.

Second that...

My actual list:
Already paid for
1. Pair Quad Eight MM61 (Motown style) 2 band eq
2. Pair Quad Eight AM2b Compressors
3. PTHD and new Mac
Cash burning a hole in my pocket
Main studio console
I'm looking at two different Quad Eights but my eyes are bigger than my wallet so I'll probably end up with something cheaper.
Probables
Starting a drum mic collection...
1 x Soundelux iFet7
2 x KM84
1 x SM57
Other mics as yet undecided.
I'm also thinking about more Quad Eight outboard micpre's and eq's - depends on what make of console I end up with.
If I win the lottery
1. Daking 24 ch console
2. Cranesong Hedd
3. Api 2500 Compressor
4. More vintage Api modules for my lunchbox
5. Ampex 1" mastering machine
6. A decent reverb, possibly TC or older Lexicon

No . . they were hooked up. (It's a long story why they aren't now)
They have a cool sound to them. Used them when they were . . . sometimes on bass . . . . vox, some other things. Not subtle. Tad slow if I remember right. Do you have the attatched De-Esser? Do you have wiring diagram / pin out copy I could get from you by any chance? There is a guy in Canada that is a QE nut (in a good way). QE stuff is GREAT stuff!

Have you ever heard a truck with no muffler, going 70 mph, with four flat tires on a muddy, gravel road running over frogs? THAT'S what they sound like . . so you should probably give them to me.

Why 802's and not 800's?

The 800's have a better midrange and bass response. The 802's have none(you need a sub with it).

The 800's are double the 802's(in performance and price).

no, in fact, the guy I'm dealing with has 3 X 3 bands, and 3 X 2 bands.
Might take both of them if I have the Cash.

I'm a Q8 nut myself (in a good way)

The comps are very interesting too

I know a guy that will sell 2 of them soon
