We have 6 a12's and 2 N72's at the studio. The a12's are excellent for drums and the n72 is quite amazing on loads of sources. We choose that pre over everything else on lead vocals pretty often, and we have Manley, grace, wunder, UA etc... To choose from. I dont have an original neve to compare it to, but the sound is stunning none the less!!!!

Interested in finding out more about the Neve Clones you purchased on Ebay. Are they still available for purchase?

Woa, reviving an old thread here!

Is the N72 compatible with the 500-series type of racks?

No, it requires either a PC01 single unit chassis or a CH02 chassis that can hold up to 8 units. An N72 can be purchased fully assembled with a PC01 chassis for $599, but if you're going to have multiple preamps the better way to go is to buy the CH02 and slowly fill it with different preamps.
