4 compressors to rule them all: mixing

Hi everybody thanks for playing eqs with me last time. Now it's time for compressors. Mixing room: only 4 to make history and take the world by storm.
Everybody probably agrees on at least 1 of the 4.
Anxious to here from Jules and Fletcher again. Squish away...

1. MC77 (1176)
2. LA-2A (go vintage)
3. Pendulum 6386 (Better than a Fairchild 670)
4. Inward Connections Vac Rac

5. LA-3A (would be RIGHT there next, then the Neve 33609... screw the rules)

This is for mixing only, not for tracking, is that right?

curious about the Aurora Audio GTC2. can it make thing smack like the smart c2 (attack 30 release .1)? and does it have a nice transformer sound as a "neve decendant" would have?

I'm looking for a new 2bus comp.

yes slutz, this is for mixing only - recording could be realistic ghetto with archer gold label cassette inserted. This is for mixing though, really digging the range of responses so far. Keep squishin'!

SSL style? Kinda, sorta, not really... it's not a VCA. It can do fast, but only VCA's can do that style of compression associated with a C2.

It's more of a bigger, rounded sound/ style than a Smart. It has compression characteristics along the lines of an 1176 and LA2 or LA3a (depending on which circuit you engage), but the sound is definitely Neve-esque. Sounds a lot like the GTQ2, as it uses the same amplifier stage (and transformers). It's my favorite all around unit in the rack, and is the only unit I use on stereo buss. I like it a lot more than the 33609.

Don't waste your money on a TLA 100, unless you like the top end rolled off

Or you have a broken unit. Have you ever had that unit of yours looked at by Summit or replaced the tubes?

Chandler Germanium Compressor (Of which I have a pair)
Cranesong Trakker (Of which I'd like a pair)
API 2500
Pendulum Audio OCL-2 or an LA2A

Honorable mention goes to the Purple Audio Action (I'd like a pair do to parameters, design and space issues with my rig, though I have not heard these yet, I'd like to try them out.)

Summit compressors, the 100's in particular, always sounded bright to me. The 384 gets way darker if it doesnt recover by the next transient.
