Yeah actually she did. But if someone isnt willing to put up with how I want to make a living, then it wouldnt have worked.

Its ok though, a band I used to play in is getting back together to tour... so now I can really have fun on it

Wow, this is Pure Patsy Cline...

"I'm walking...
After mixing..
In the moonlight....."

Yep, it's hard when you realise that all them lurve gone wrong toons are around for a reason.

But if you're not doing what you love, a relationship's gonna die anyway - and you with it.
A long time before you're in the ground.

So relax, gain some balance - whatever it takes - there's no way out of this. Love is a cliche waiting to hit you in the eyes. It walks out when you don't want it, and walks in when you don't want it. Takes you up to where you wanna go, leaves you down and feelin' low.

Pleasure and pain. Sweet and bitter.
Life's hardest lesson. Don't worry, . We all flunk Love College. But there's great opportunities for
further education in todays modern world...

Nothin' that a dossage of ABBA songs can't fix.......

Cliche no.79 - life moves on, the sun will shine, so will you.

**** what was in that cigarette? Life looks....so... beautiful......

my priorities:

1. family
2. music
3. career
4. money

i work from the principle that the meaning of life is to leave a trace on this planet, and there are many ways to do it (in order of diminishing returns):

1. have a kid and teach them something (to satisfy your own physical and cultural dna)

2. produce a record (of your existence, be it a book, a mix, a painting, a truck or a political party)

3. work with others and create a "school" of thought, or, as they say in medicine, see one, do one, teach one

4. make some bucks and buy a plaque at the local hospital

there you have it, simple economics

red, losing your girlfriend is ok (once or twice, but not three times, remember, once is an accident, twice is bad luck, three times a habit), but the good ones only come around every so often, so take care

sorry, guys, but if you think you can live and die in the studio... you will

living is like mixing, it's all about the balance (and the gear, of course)

I thought Stedel had made a little mistake like it should say:

"It walks out when you want it, and walks in when you don't want it. Takes you up to where you wanna go, leaves you down and feelin' low."

But maybe Stedel never wants it

Doubt that!!!heh

I agree it's hard to balance a personal life with the demands such a committed and passionate career- but as everyone's says there's a way...

Interesting thread... When I was working all hours on pop records, the sessions WERE my life... my wife is a touring musician, so the schedule actually worked out fine. Now that I'm an old man (40+) , I prefer to work in the daylight hours - Just keep with it, and now I want to stick a pissing monkey heredfegad

Define 'too many.' More than you can use at once, oh yeah! Enough to completely satisfy every situation? Never!

Besides, every toy comes with a receipt...and every receipt is a tax writeoff...but that's another topic...grggt

The only problem with all those toys is that you have to keep getting a bigger toybox.

Well the day after I got my HD setup going I recorded a band and the guy could not sing. Toys do not perform miracles, but boy do they look nice..

Turd polishing can be successful... You just have to freeze it first!

Actually this leads me to another thread:-

What's the worst thing you've had to fix in the studio?

Answers on a postcard please...

Well Renie, I have to invoke the ADI Clause - namely the Artists Divine Inspiration Clause - the one that says whoever creates is merely a conduit and understanding comes later - do not mess with the purity of the scource. Besides, basically I think you just wrote the second verse - now all we need is a chorus and bridge.

As for toys, for people in Red's position I have heard that there are speciality shops that do provide various items for DI - but I don't go there myself.

Speaking of Red...how is he? Is he on the road yet?
Is he drinking too many beers? Anybody seen him?
What if he's all alone listening to Tom Waits songs from "Foreign Affairs"?
R U there Red?

Alive and well.

The band actually just got done writing a new full length and im still real busy recording. Luckily I've cut back how long I record and basically refuse to go past 10 hours a day.

So we're taking 3 weeks off to record the record and will start touring off it the second it comes out. Life is looking good.

Ive been recording so much recently that its real fun to get behind a drumset again. The music we've been writing is suprisingly complicated and I'm amazed I can still play the stuff. So between recording and working with the band I still spend waaaay too much time away from any kind of personal life. Oh well, touring will bring around a lot of time to party... and girlstut
