Soft Compression/EQ or Hard Compression EQ

I have a DAW which is running Cubase 4 and have been using the software compressors and EQ for recording and mixing. I am am curious if anyone has done any comparisons with soft EQ and Compression verses hardware and which do you prefer? Is it better to record with hardware and mix with soft eq and compression if need be or just better to use only hardware for both?

There are lots of threads on the topic. It's been debated over and over and I guess noone has the energy for one more round. stike

Search for threads on "ITB vs OTB mixing" and you should have hours worth of reading on this very topic.

I don't think it's really the kind of thing anyone here would be interested in.

The real question is what did you find in your comparisons and which do you prefer? I would highly suggest that you form your opinions from data which is a more reliable source other than an internet forum.

Personal experience is a great place to start.

There are a lot comparisons, a combination of both can work really well.
