NUENDO AND CUBASE PRO TOOLS FILE QUESTION

My main objective is to get pro tools files on nuendo or cubase, I dont have either one right now, but im going to buy either nuendo or cubase depending on the file transfer to pro tools,,,
1.nuendo 3 says:

AAF (Advanced Authoring Format) is currently the most advanced transfer format for post-production. Companies such as AVID, Apple, Digidesign, SADiE, Merging, Fairlight, Adobe and Steinberg support AAF.

2.cubase sx3 says

it has omf files ,

not sure about if cubase 4 does what nuendo does as far as aaf.

anyone know, thanks

Cubase 4 does OMF (both versions) but not AAF.
Since it's more recent than Nuendo3, my guess is that
-either AAF hasn't yet established itself as the standared it was apparently supposed to,

-or it's a format more suited to multimedia file exchange (audio and video, cuelists, etc..) than purely for audio.

If possible try to get the files in OMF2 format, especially if there have been punches and edits.

Unless the PT rig has digitranslator OMF ain't gonna happen. I would just bounce all the files from zero and then import the files into Cubase/ Nuendo into a fresh template. As long as all the files have the same start point you're cool. I do this for a producer friend of mine when I track drums for him. He doesn't have digitranslator with his PT rig, I use Nuendo.

When transfering files from one DAW to another, I've had people asking me for OMF files several times. But never for AAF

N4 should have AAF since N3 already has it.
