apogee opinions!!!

i'm toying with the notion of getting a digi-mix expansion card so i can connect my rosetta directly to my pro tools mix system...i am wondering if bypassing the 888 and connecting the apogee straight to the mix core card will give me less jitter, thus-even better conversion quality than i am already get using the digital aes connections...

anyone out there have any 'ears on' experience with the apogee x-pansion cards? anyone out there heard this experiment first hand?

guess i'm gettin' a little greedy with my a firm believer that the shorter the chain, the better the sound!

i will get one of these cards if it will give me better audio conversion...

what do ya'll think?

i'm thinking about doing the exact same thing. my love for pro tools software has gotten the best of me. so when i came accross the apogee digi x card, i figure i can finally use pro tools for tracking while getting apogee's pristine conversion quality, with out spending quite as much on a hd rig. in my head this sounds logical, but some guidance is always assuring. I would think that jitter could be adaquetly reduced wiht using the big ben... but i'm unsure as too there being different problems that occur from pluging the x-card into the mix card. With all good things, there always seems to be a catch to it.
