Discrete mixing desks

Hi,
Apart from the Massenburg HRT 9100 what other current(ish) desk designs, with a similar foot-print size as the HRT, are completely discrete in their design i.e. IC-free?

The Forssell console, the API DSM, and the API 1608 are all discrete I believe.

Hi,
is there anything currently available discrete designs that are as good, in terms of resolution and sonic clarity, as the HRT 9100? Millenia Mixing suite?

I take it you are referring to the Neve 5088, correct?

Also, is anyone familiar with the Speck LiLo, how those this board stack up sonically?

Neither are fully discrete I think. The Neve I believe has discrete line amps but I imagine a lot of the other functions are IC based like the rest of the Portico range. However the website does claim it is fully discrete so maybe it is....I dunno? THe modules claim single sided discrete circuitry wherever possible, but looking inside I see mainly ICs that are class-a biased for small signals like Ruperts other more modern designs.

Speck LiLO is all-IC unless you custom order the discrete line amps and adda transformer or two.

Just to clarify, the 5088 is entirely discrete! Not a chip in her!
Runs on +/-45v rails.

Best regards,

Thanks for setting it straight Josh.

Any reason why you went all discrete on the console but not the portico modules?

Cheers Tom

Just the evolution of designs. Portico is an architecture term for 'entry way' , as in there will be much more to follow!

Best,

Josh

I love it. Great change from L.A. !!!! The Daking travels pretty well. Probably build a roadcase for it for my next destination . . . . .
