DAD-Digital Audio Denmark A/D-Anyone have any feedback on these???

Digital Audio Denmark AD converter....Any user comments or concerns. Anybody using these as a front end to Pro Tools HD??? Please respond with a little feedback as I am trying to decide on whether or not to buy.

I tried the AX24 for a couple of weeks. I was more interested in the DSD/DXD aspect of them when I was trying to decide on what converters to put in my Mastering room. As for PCM work, they are pretty awesome. I'd match them up to Lavry Blue/Aurora/Apogee any day. For DSD work, they're not quite in the EMM Labs league yet. They're quite versitle though since you can add any card configuration you'd need.

Regards,
Bruce

i've listened to dxd recordings done with them, it blows away anything i've ever heard from pcm at any sampling rate.

the word that comes to mind is 'palpable.'

Contact Peter, the designer directly. He is a very nice guy and is more than happy to present his converters.

He is my merging/pyramix dealer, I sent him an email earlier today asking some questions about the axion.
If things look good I will try to have one here next to our Prism's and Lavry's as well as comparing his pre's to our millennias.

The danish radio has a large number of the pre's and AD's for their live broadcast of the Danish Radio Symphony orchestra.

Peter just sent me an email saying they have a Madi to protools interface. Here is a quote:

"DAD has provided a unique interface for connecting multiple of the AX24
extreme audio quality converters to Pro Tools|HD® via MADI.

The DAD HD IO provides direct connectivity between Pro Tools® DSP
cards and MADI with 2 primary ports interface (32 channels @96 kHz each)
to a Digidesign Pro Tools|HD® card and 2 Coax MADI I/O ports.

Each MADI port offers 56 or 64 MADI digital inputs and outputs at up to
48kHz, 28 or 32 MADI digital inputs and outputs at up to 96kHz, and
14 or 16 MADI digital inputs and outputs at up to 192kHz.

The latency generated by the DADI HD IO is limited to 1 sample for MADI

Out and 1-2 for MADI In."
