Wade, You've done it again!

Oh my.

My first reaction? SCHWING!

My second reaction: I'm gonna need two.

My third reaction: I hope it has inserts on the channels and busses.

I like the non-motorized retro Road Faders. Hey, people can put flying faders in as an option, right?

Now...how about a Germanium A-D converter in there, with two AES ouputs on it?

Don't forget to make a Mk II channel for it. I love my Germ, but I also love the Mk II.
I know it's dear to YOUR heart as well!!!

And I'm totally serious...I'd even track & mix classical scoring sessions thru this. After trying my Schoeps thru my Germ pre, it could be the most flexible desk ever, and I know you'll make it +26dBU capable before clipping....right?

I gotta get two.

Holy ****e, I just thought about how big the power supplies are going to be! Will I have to put in a new 100amp, three-phase main?

Keep up the good work for your fan/customer base!

Wade you could try kevin at mixed logic about the DAW faders etc. they have the M24, that i just got that s, IMHO far nicer then the MCU and 2 XT's i used to have. they only do this one board and they do the integration better than anyone i know.

and its built like a tank and supported way way way better than mackie.

not sure if they woudl be interested but they sure might.

Mixed Logic

this thing runs alps faders and i like them better than the MCU stuff, and yes i did have an MCU and 2 xt's for quite a while and i didn't dislike them, this unit is just way mroe comprehensive and better made, better supported, better integrated.

anyway, not sure where you are on th DAW contriol thing but drop keinv a line at mixed logic if you want

Amazing good retro look with the high end gear of today in it.
Look at how many people viewed this thread.
It seems they have made theirself one big hit console.
I am beginning to wonder why I still don't have Chandler gear in my studio.

Is it really the end?

BTW, Chandler mixer would increase its chances to lead potentially emerging high-end retro-flexi market greatly, if kind of flexibility to integrate easily various modules (ala 500, Tonelux or RND format etc.) will be provided for future expansion.
Versatility and expandibilty are words of today and future.
Various Chandler's flavors as Germanium will appeal to many as future options.
Such mixer, as opposite to full-fledged 'packed with all' expensive consoles, should be initially just frame a around which the whole OTB mixing and processing should be built, individually tailored by each per its own needs.

Interim summary of dream list:

-flying faders with automation as option
-expandibility in all directions (number of channels, processing modules etc.)
-DAW control option
-open integration for custom configuration with other recognized formats

Wake up man

Hi Wade,
your design looks very nice but may I ask, is this an all discrete design devoid of IC's?

Yes, assuming, that is, that everyone who invests in this desk does so because they want automation and DAW control!

I like the option of fixed faders.

I htink it would have to be done as a snap-on part so that you could track through the console, use the faders for monitor mixes and quick roughs. Then for the final mix, snap on a piece tha holds the faders at unity so their exact levels can be reaclled later. Then automate levels ITB.

Or mixing box with console capabilities.

Start price for mixing box (16 line channels with faders, VUs, enclosure and integration paths that enable 8 buss/aux configuration) around which the whole system (or future big console) would be built should not cost more than 30 k.
Creative approach would not be just to make another mixer with another flavor
It should be something that already works as basic standalone mixing box of the highest caliber, but with open platform for add-ons whenever one is ready to spend further 10, 20 or 30 k + not to be stupidly bound to buy from one manufacturer only (ala PT) Just compare it with VSTi, open platform exploded sales of software and in same time Steinberg increased their popularity in general.
Also, just retro touch without ultra modern functionality (even as expensive options) like DAW inter-action and automation is again

I know we want more then feasible for manufacturers, but what a hell, we can make music ITB as well, so more creativity from manufacturers is MUST in this time and age.

None of our products use ICs in the audio. The only IC I have ever used is the for the meters.

Wake up in sheer realities.
People will probably buy music less and less, especially when you compare how much music is available to be drawn free of charge from various sources.
Such console is big boy toy, dream that becomes reality for music making lovers.
For making money from music it is absolutely unnecessary.
IMO gearslutz.com is about gears and passion related to gears. It has very little with feasibility of purchase.

Still we are not aware of price at allheh
