Aha, **THE Gearslutz 01 Console" has arrived! Though I miss the Hospital Button...
heh
(Fat assed producer leaning over the console, pointing at a small button without any text or legend... "What is this button for ?"
"Oh, that's the Hospital Button"
" The..... Hospital Button???"
"Yes....... If you touch it, you will end up in hospital!")

Absolute Masterpiece.....so all, speak and someone **will** listen!
When can I have mine (assuming that 31.996 GS members have pre-ordered at least one...)

The Aux/buss thing got me thinking. It would be cool for those slots to be half-rack in size, and support various modules. 2xDB25s would possibly be enough i/o. That would be (all ballanced) 2 input 14 output, or whatever configuration there is enough demand to build the module for. The size would also allow for more buttons, and maybe even a small fader.

I'm also kind of wondering how the cabling for the main channel strip works. i.e. what's the flexibility for hooking up different channel strips, and accessing different parts of them.

I'm diggin' the metering, especially the fact that they appear modular. Makes maintaining and/or repairing a downed meter much simpler. Good idea.

yeah... I agree. I know it would probably be WAY too expensive, and not the best use of R&D time at this point... but if they could ever become touch fader automation faders.... whoa! That would be the BEST of yesterday and today!!

you're gonna add recall to a jam packed $3500 channel strip? do you have any idea what this would cost? assuming of course it's even possible, which i doubt. wade said the assemblers are already complaining how tight the germanium max is inside.. SSLs don't even have "real" recall.

IMO the strength of this desk is the ability to be used with a DAW as a big brauer-style multi-buss back end... wade even alluded to the buss processors being the most fun... you can fill it with 4 or 5 different kinds of channel/buss strips and have a few more simple channels around for other tasks... parallel stuff.. fx returns... etc.. then you could do most of your channel EQ and things you'd need to recall inside the computer.. or track them on the way in..

use the computer for what it's good for: editing, automation, and recall..

and use analog for what it's good for: tone, character, depth, contrast, etc..

this is how i'd use this desk, as a multibuss "summing" desk

I'm OK.

One Germanium has given me joy that prior to it only Christmas as a ten year old could rival. A console of Germaniums would make me... well... poop my pants.

Very sexy Wade, nice work - how heavy is a 40 channel? Wot's it gonna cost to ship to New Zealand?

Funny you know, we're going round in circles-

console ---> no console ---> console ---> no console

tubes ---> transistors ---> ic's ---> tubes ---> transistors ---> ??
