Not really. The whole layout would need to change. Much would need to be added and there is no room left in there. Too many transformers!
:-)

Nice picture!

That sounds great!!

An optional expander for a total of 32 CH. would be even better!

I apologize if I missed it somewhere above but when might the updated Germ Tone Control be ready to go? I was thinking of jumping on one but now I might wait.

Also, when is the 4 rack space Chandler Abbey Road/Germanium IntenseJim Quadraphonic Channel Strip --2 TG with 2 Germ-- shipping?

(OK, but you just never know when the Jedi mind trick will work.)

Hey Jim-
We were just theorizing on what to do. Germ Channel or MKII upgraded version of the pre and Tone. I think the Channel won...

i LOVE my mini mixer but that would be CRAZY!!...a fader pack with pan/solo/mute alone would really be great for my needs...but all the above would be amazing!!

what he said. i think there's a big market out there for electronic producers/musicians who want a small tracking setup with the option to have lots of colour (ie germanium style) or not....at least i do!

big fan of the germanium series....so the more the better for me...definitely interested in the germ channel and the tone control having more options.

Hey Guys-
Any preference on the GERM Channel having gain/feedback on each section? I was not sure if that would be too much tweaking. You can patch in and out of each section so it may be useful...

I was thinking it would be overkill and would personally prefer it just on the mic/line input......
???

Thanks for any thoughts!

Simpler is better!!!

Guitar amp analogy: Soldano is simple and gorgeous; Mesa Boogie makes my head hurt.

Overkill ???? this is gearSLUTZ Wade....maybe a gain/feedback bypass button would do the trick so when i'm using it as a channel, one gain/feedback section is enough but when i'm patching in and out i would love that feature on each section.

From Wade's site: Chandler Limited | Products: GERMANIUM Pre Amp/DI -

Controls the amount of signal from the amplifier output fed back to the input. It affects volume and tone.
  • To left: less volume, lower noise floor, lower THD, more highs
  • To right: more volume, more distortion, more peak at 30 Hz

Thanks, that's good to know, but how does it only affect the sound without actually feedbacking (the bad way)?
Just curious.

feedack at the pre-amp/line-in only is fine I think.

Esp. if this means the price will be a bit lower...

But you the man, do what you think is best.

Making Germanium units for the mini-rack I think would be a great idea to compete with the 500 series stuff. Not sure if you could stuff the tone Control and the Pre into one module though. But seperate pre, eq and comp modules priced close enough to the 500 stuff would be killer. To think if you could have the TG2 pre w/ a high/low cut switch in one slot and the full TG EQ in another and a Germ EQ in another? That would be pretty awesome if it were doable and priced right.

I think the less the better. The feedback circuit is great, but one is enough in my opinion.

A perfect 500 series version of the TC for me would have:

1. A variable HPF - maybe 7 or 8 settings between 20 and 400

2. Something very similar to the thick section of the TC, keeping the interactive / independent option.... Except change the cut range to something like 60 to 700 and change the boost range to something like 35 to 500. But

3. A simple Mid-High Cut/Boost - about 8 to 10 frequencies from 400 to 16k with shelf/bell switch.

OK thanks to ALL of you for the new thoughts...Ill let it all sink in. Obviously I cant do everything right away, but every comment helps in the thought an development process
:-)

The Germ Channel is basically done then, I just need to adjust faceplate. It usually takes about two months for all the parts to build a batch of something to show up. So that plus a little tweak time....

Two new 500s should be ready in January and will be shown at NAMM.

I dont really want to completely spill the beans until Im 100% they will be coming out. At this point it is looking very good :-)

They are new circuits not Germ or TG but they have some very nice roots in the designs.....

They work great even with the worst API supply you can find :-)
