Coles 4038 - new or vintage?

I have decided to buy a pair of these beautiful things!!
Should I go for the vintage 4038's or are the new models the same/just as good??

Coles 4038's are one of the few mics that I would suggest getting new. Ribbons (the actual element) in general don't age well, so if you got vintage ones you'd probably have to re-ribbon them anyways.

This is the answer the vast majority of folks will give you.

I agree.

So will anyone else with an opinion.

End of thread.

Enjoy the new mics!

They're great.
