A lot of the good stuffs are not anymore listed, i guess someone made a bulk offer on all the Urei/GML/Pultec/33609's/384Fx/480L's stuffs 'cause it won't be auctioned... Thanks for the crumbs!
Cheeky bastards! heh

the good mics were gone early on. it's in a major market with available demand for good equipment and dollars to spend on it. it's no surprise it's being picked over before the unwashed masses are allowed any opportunity, quite typical really.

Yeah, all the sweet goodies are gone...

I was there a few weeks ago and saw a lot of nice stuff piled up in the sound stage.
I did not see most of the stuff I want in Joe Finn's online equipment list.

That's a drag, but...

Spent about 2 hours there yesterday.

All the good stuff is gone. No Pultecs, 1176's, 33609's, even most of the 192's are gone. There are still some great main monitors, tape machines, SSL J's and the 88r. So factor in a moving company for anything worth buying!

Supposedly, Sony has decided to relocate 3 rooms (including a mix room) elsewhere... And the "staff" got first dibs on the rest of it. So if you knew a staff member you could get whatever you wanted. "It was the rape of the Roman empire"

I will say the Joseph Finn guys really know how to run an auction. My partner and I got a gorgeous U48 for just under 4k at the National auction a few years ago.

There will be some great deals to be had, but it will be a very long day in there... Good luck gentleman.

My guess is that gear brokers and others swooped in to buy everything for resale.

I only bought one thing: The EMT Plate. Should be fun.

BTW, the 88r was pulled from the auction.

For the most part many things went for close to or more than retail...

No joke, it's insane.

Yellow Jackets for cable protection went for about 10 bucks less than you can buy them new.

The sandbags went for more than new.

DBX162s for 800.00?

Crated SSL C300 - 90K

SSL 9072J -- $90K

SSL 9072J w/ full surround - $115K

I got a Studer 962 14X 4 desk for $1750.00. Not bad.

Studer A800MKIIIS went for -- $2K, $4K, $900.00 w/ no remote and a Parts machine for $600.00 or so.

Neve 34628 went for $3100.00

Neve MMC digital -- $19K -- Crazy stuff.

Euphonix CS3000 -- $3.7K

SSL 9072J w/ 24 channel side car -- $95K

I left at around 6PM EDT... I could not handle anymore of it..

I won a few things. I planed to grab much more stuff, but the prices were insane.

Actually it was $4.600 precisely and the one right after sold for $900 without remote. I felt bad for that guy who paid $4600! He tried to withdraw but it was too late...
Also guys, it was more than the prices reported above as in reality every buyer on site pay an additional 10% premium fee + sale tax on top of these winning bids...

I was at the studio at the beginning of last week finishing up some mastering on my CD. What I heard was that as soon as the studio closing was announced things started dissapearing, mostly mics. They locked down the place and it mostly stopped. Then the best stuff was put in storage; some, I believe, for the 3 rooms they will open downtown. Then the engineers got dibs on the next round of gear. Everything left went to auction and I think that is why it was slim pickings. I got a few small things for a good price, but I am just a composer with a small project studio!

Not exactly.
Sony fusioned with BMG and decided to share the expenses of 3 or 4 smaller scale studios for their artists.
Both companies looked at the gear they had on each end, kept the best, et voila!
The rest was sold!

I was at DAY 2 of the auction today and attendance was about a third of Monday's crazefest2007.

A lot of better deals on the video side of things...

I wish it can go back to the days when the video folks were going nuts on auctioned gear.

Us audio folks did well at auctions back in the late 70s; early 80s.
It's just too nuts nowadays.
