SSL Xlogic Alpha-Link to replace PT i/0?

I am about to dive into another upgrade project. This time we replace an old MOTU system with a new PT HD3 system. A nice jump!
In my search for the proper path I came across the above option. This means replacing the ProTools 192HD i/os with the Solid State Logic Xlogic Alpha-Link Audio I/O for the same track count, for less.

Sales blurb aside, I know of nobody using this configuration so if any GS block have an input it would be grand.
Most important is sound second by stability compatibility then price.

I am all ears at this point.

Using the Alpha-Link with mixpander, sounds great and very stable.

I don't like Pro-tools though so HD wasn't really a choice (and I like PCs)this setup seems the best performance/price you can get.

No Midi though so have to use USB which isn't quite as good.

Hi,

I've been reading up on the SSL Mixpander + AlphaLink MADI-SX combo lately.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but to interface with Pro Tools, you'll need the Delta Link MADI-HD box (which is like $4000 I think) SSL and then you'll need either a console or set of converters that output MADI. (Like the Alpha Link MADI-SX or MADI-AX for another $3500 each)

If you were planning on buying a lot of I/O channels, it will probably be cost effective. Hans Zimmer just upgraded to it : SSL

Yup, you'll need a Delta Link. This gives 64 I/O from PT into MADI.
