haha... there was just a thread up.

Compressor Electro Harmonix NY-2A ?

My 2 cents.

Reminds me of a clean La2a in Opto mode, a Gates in Incandescent, and a La4 in LED. The color is generally clean and resolute with an extended bottom and crisp clear top end. You can get the unit to "bark" when pushed, but it doesn't break up as nicely as some other vintage units. For the most part it wants to be clean with a little second harmonic emphasis.

The build quality is good. Heavy as hell. Super thick aluminum front panel. High quality components. The thing runs hot as frick, so you can't get it all cuddly with your other gear. I almost blew up a large power supply electrolytic capacitor because I had the thing burrowed in a drop rack. It definitely needs air.

Worth a test run. Pretty versatile. I didn't like LED mode and Incandescent at first, but you learn what they work well on. I find myself using it on Kick, Bass, Vox, sometimes drum buss... a few times on master buss. It's not always the right ticket.. but I guess then, what is?

A couple of bad build quality reports and ZERO customer service.

Yeah...I've had problems with my unit twice, but the customer service was always good on my end. Get a hold of Rik. The guy gave me his cell and told me I could even call him on the weekend... pretty cool.

I'm still waiting for mine to be repaired. Going on 9 months. . . . . . At first customer service was good. It has since slipped into the worst service I've ever experienced. At this point I'd rather just have my money back.

I had 2 of them. In the first month of having them all the caps on #1 blew. #2 was okay though.

I sent #1 back and I sold #2.

It's a cool sounding box, but I can't say I would recommend them.
