Console to Western Electric 111C repeat coils to Dolby 740 to mix recorder. Rarely there's a Collins 26U-2 in there as stereo bus compressor, before the 740.

Well, two pages into this thread, and I am sure that means no one's gonna read this, but, this is fun anyway, so here goes:

Last week -

PTHD > 96 1/O > MCI JH400 console (some direct to channel, some pre-summed stereo pairs) > Chandler LTD-2s (borrowed)> 96 I/O > PTHD

Next week-
PTHD > 96 I/O > MCI JH400 console (RECAPPED THIS WEEK)
(some direct to channel, some pre-summed stereo mixes, parellel bus for drums--- DBX 162 ---, mono parallel bus for vocals --- ADL-1000, maybe an additional parallel bus for something else --- pair of Distressors)

> music channels bus together to > Alta Moda Unicomp (rental)> 96 I/O > PTHD
> vocal channels bus together to > DW Fearn VT-7 (rental) > 96 I/O > PTHD

Sum the two stereo pairs (music and vocal) in PT.

I know, this is probably insanely over complicated, but I can't wait to try, so just let a brother indulge.

ROLAND Vs 2480 > DEQ 2496 > MASTERLINK ---so clean and simple. Of course, we do only a small percentage of hard rock ... We were happy to sell the -- SPL Tube Vitalizer --Summit EQ - Manley limiter- Orban comp chain : we used to intermix > in the past.
Tested the DEQ with the Finalizer 96k and the DBX Quantum

Protools HD - TC System 6000 Digidesign 192 - SSL AWS900+ - analog compression (dbx 160s/SSL bus-compression/TLA tube compression/Avalon Tube compression - back to ProTools or recording on AKAI DD08 (multitrack/5.1)

We are planning to add a Weiss or Hedd A/D (see thread If you have the choice on ADC?)

Kind regards from Belgium

The chain I use is quite simple, yet flexible as I do 90% of my clients masterings as well :
-PTHD (3X 96Io + 24 Fostex D2424 DA) > D&R Avalon
-2 mix out (with NO processing) into any combination of three different destinations;
1) Studer D19 AD > 2nd DW with Wavelab (AES in card)
2) Back to PT via the 96 IO
3) Sony APR 5002 1/4" @ 15 IPS
