Lynx Aurora16 Reliability Issues?

I don't know what dealer would've said that, but I can assure you that it's not the case. These units go through a heavy QC prior to being shipped. The Aurora's are rock solid boxes and so far I haven't had one person (that we've sold to) have an issue with them (and we've sold quite a few). In fact, just this morning I spoke with a customer of ours in Hawaii who just recently installed 3 Aurora's with the LT-HD cards. He said they have been running non-stop, 24 hours a day, since their installation and have been amazing boxes.

Mine has been insanely solid since I got it a year and a half ago.

+1... amazing reliability! I had one of the first Aurora-16's and it sounds as good today as it did when I got it.

I've got 3 of them and I personally know about 4 other people that have them as well. The only issue any of us have had is one that I had a loose word clock connector (it was one of the early ones) on one of mine. On my other 2 (later revisions) they clearly made that a little more robust.

So... I would say they are very reliable.

Mine has been rock solid.

The other day I went into the studio and it was off (always leave it on). I freaked out for about a second and then checked the fuse. Ya, turns out the internal fuse blew, weird. More of an issue of my power than the Aurora. Heh.

Totally LOVE my Aurora16!

No problems here, either. Your dealer is probably trying to sell you something else that he gets a higher profit margin from.

Love mine-I did have one problem however. Been using the Aurora 16 for 9 months when suddenly in a session it crapped out-ala big time. For some reason the thing burned a capcacitor out and that was that.
Lynx helped me out as expected and the warranty repair has operated perfectly to this point. I have had good experiences with the company and with the tech support, too, so they do get a thumbs up from me as well.

Got two of Aurora 16's here... Noticed they run pretty hot (at least the 230 V version), so rack-mounting them should be done with that in mind. Beautiful gear!

Mine is rock solid too - nearly 2 years old now... And yep - she runs hot! I leave a rack space above and below.

I've a lot of hours on mine in the time I've had it and it runs fine. I had a little problem as a result of user error once, but that's not Lynx's fault.

I have an Aurora 8 and an Aurora 16.

Both have been on pretty much 24/7 for over a year - no problemo heh

They do tend to run a little hot so you will need to leave appropriate air space

Rock Solid.

Gets hot, but can take the heat well......for a converter.

Buy one. (or two) It's a no-brainer.

I'll be getting two A16s soon. The way I look at it is even if you read about a few units crapping out it shouldnt scare you since electronics are fussy. If they are overwhelmingly stable and the tech support is superior, I have no problem with the company.

But Does It work with PTHD Delay compensation

Anyone know for sure if the aurora 16 or 8 does really work with PTHD delay compensation. Saw a post saying a Digidesign rep says "it does not".
