Cranesong Spider latency issue...

Hi there. I'm wondering if any Spider owners can help me out. I just got a used Spider and tried some vocal tracking last night. I noticed an unusual amount of latency while monitoring a track running through the Spider. Normally I use a 64 sample buffer (in PT LE) and don't notice any latency at all, but with this, running 64 samples, it was clearly noticeable. I had to use Low Latency Monitoring (which I try to avoid) just to get it to a workable level, and even then, it was more than normal.

I've never had anything like this with my previous ADAT pres, or with the pres in the 002. In fact, just to make sure it wasn't something I had done wrong (in the session), I patched the channel to one of the 002's pres and the latency immediately went away. Patch it back to the Spider, and there's the latency again.

Does anyone know what might cause something like this? Or is that just how much latency the Spider has (for whatever reason) and I have to learn to deal with it?
