Brauner Valvet X + Neve or Brauner VMX

I'm looking to pick up one of the high end Brauner tube mics. The key aspects I'm looking for are detail and energy in the mid frequencies and an open feeling top end that takes EQ well. Right now I am using microphones straight into my Apollo interface.

For the same price online, I can get either:
Brauner Valvet X + Vintech x73i, or

Just the Brauner VMX.
The first setup is definitely tempting. For the same price you get a really good mic, a good preamp, and a good EQ section.

But is the VMX so much better that it justifies the cost? Same question applies to any mic over 5 grand new.

Forgot to mention - this would be mainly for modern pop vocals. Upfront, saturated, crispy, open top end, good for stacking lots of BGV
