azimuth adjustment on a mono tape head

Hi folks,

What's the best/proper way to adjust the azimuth on a mono tape head? In this case, it's the head in an old Roland Space Echo.

I've done plenty of two-track heads with an MRL tape... easy to do there... but what's the procedure with just one track across the head? (and no "alignment" tape to be mounted?)

Adjust azimuth for loudest signal using a 10k tone.
