I recently picked up a 6176 and the stepped knobs are super tight. When compared to my LA610 it's like night and day. Is there anything I can do to loosen them up? Anyone know how to remove the knobs? Looks like there might be a little screw in the hole on each knob.

Yep it's a new unit. I tried the contact cleaner/lube but the knobs are still pretty tight when turning. It's not the end of the world but there's nothing like a smooth turning knob. My Chandler germ pre is buttery smooth. Oh well maybe in time they'll loosen up a bit.
By the way I got the knobs off. In case anyone's wondering it requires an allen key in the 2 little holes at the base of the knobs. It's really thin, I think about 1/16 or something.
