It's super simple, but the EQ on the Tegeler Creme is nice for sweetening a touch.

I need something that will not break the bank and max do mastering and mix buss work.

The new Buzz Audio Zodiac looks interesting for your application. Also maybe a used Great River EQ2V. It’s a great EQ.

I heard the great river loved that. Just thinking what options are out there. Also anybody work with the 1974?

I like my Elysia X-Filter.

Very reasonably priced.

I used to use a pair of A Designs EM-PEQ’s, they’re broad and good for bus work, sound great for tracking lots of sources as well

i have a Neve 8803 and use it mainly for the filters.

i find the knobs on the 8803 a bit small and dinky for my old eyes these days.

i use 2 tube pultecs as well as the Neve, and if i had to make a choice between the 2 it would be for the pultecs.

hope that helps. Buddha

Manley massive massive... makes the mids pop out of the speakers very nicely but not I am overly annoying or aggressive way.

another vote for a used Great River eq-2NV over here - sounds great and is a TRUE workhorse. studio or in a rack on the road.

one power switch and one trim pot in god knows how many years.
bypassed the switch and the pot ia very simple to replace

Only if you don’t care about recall...they’re also not particularly “colourful”, and fairly limited.

For a won’t break the bank option the A Designs Hammer is pretty good - hard to make it sound bad on mixbuss, also great for tracking piano, overheads etc.

I'm very interested in hearing an Aurora Audio GT4-2 for this purpose. And now I'm intrigued by the Michelangelo as well.

+1 on A-Designs Hammer. Flexible enough, sounds good, won’t do any harm.

Electrodyne 2511 is great, vibey broad stroke shaping for tracking and mix bus. The Buzz Zodiac looks interesting to me as well.

The GR NV EQ is a great EQ. I have a mono and would love a stereo unit

I was looking at that Drawmer 1974 too.

I don't suppose it can be operated dual mono huh?

The most common mixbus EQ is the Hammer, at least on gearslutz. Slap some nice NOS tubes like Amperex in there and you're golden!

Even without, it's good!

But it's not the most common "real world" mixbuss EQ. I'd say that honour (in a commercial studio) would go to the GML, 2nd place Massive Passive.

The two EQ's I have never been able to really love - but I suspect that more to do with my taste rather than a reflection on those two industry standards.
