Microphone Identification

Does anyone know what model of microphone this is?

-Looks pretty hefty
-Has a square-shaped cutaway on the side
-Appears to have some kind of cylindrical bump and a ridge running along one side

In the 70's, someone told me that the EV 666 was nicknamed Donkey Dick. Although some people now refer to the Electro-Voice RE-20 with the same name.

That's the Devil's mic. EVIL666
They require a funky D-shaped plug. Most stopped using them only because of this. Without the need for the adapter, they would be more popular of an older mic.

Great recording mics for a bad room.

Oh man... I was the equipment room manager at a recording school for a while. I'm not going to say who it was, but a really famous engineer/producer taught a studio etiquette class pretty early in the morning on weekends and loved nothing more than to screw with the students. Once he sent a young, really shy female student to the equipment room to get the "donkey" mic. It was early and didn't hear her, thought she said "dorky mic" and had no idea what she was talking about. She stood there for a few seconds and sheepishly said "the donkey dick mic". Yup, RE-20. I bit my lip, handed her one and as soon as she got down the hall a bit, just burst into laughter. I felt sorry for her though, poor girl...
