Amphion 500 vs Bryson 4b sst

Has any on compared these 2 power amps and has anyone used the amphion 500 to power anything other than amphion monitors?

Will be using this to power pro acs 100's or jbl 44xx's.

Thanks in advance.

Prior to getting the (DIY version of) the Amp 500 I used to use a 4B sst to drive my Amphion One18.

The 4B is great but to me the One18s sound better with the Anaview based amp.

Now I get a slightly recessed yet faster bottom and low-mid compared to the 4b yet the midrange sounds clearer and smoother and the topend is very precise and extended without sounding harsh or hyped.
The bryston perhaps sounds a little puffier (more round, slower?), thus a little less precise and because of this a wee bit more musical if you wish.

Swapping the Bryston for the Amp500, a major improvement for me was the topend.
With the Bryston I would have a hard time spotting spiky resonances from 7kHz upwards in my audio material, whereas now is piece of cake.
It feels like the veil is off now.

Personally, I have never tried my DIY Amp500 with other speakers so I cannot comment on that.

Though, a peer engineer who owns a pair NS10, Amphion Amp500 and Bryston says the NS10s perform better with the Bryston than with the Amp500.
He says they’re “more” complimentary.

I guess it’s a matter of finding a suitable match.

If situation allows I suggest you try them both before committing.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Andy

thank you for your reply. I have a Yamaha 2200 on my ns 10's and the bryston on my pro acs and a Jim Williams modded adcom on my jbls. I want to swap out the adcom for something else but not sure if I want to spend the cash on another bryston. a new amphion 500 is less than a used bryston
