Just bought one. You guys hit it hard to get what you want or do you just kiss it. Or maybe it depends, huh?

Also, anybody tube swap, if so what do you recommend. I'm looking forward to getting this piece, heard so much great stuff about it.

depends on what you are going for in the mix. Its very sweep'able with the timing controls, so it can do a lot of compression actions. Slow return like STA level, or Grab and Go like 176. Whatever floats your wood barrel in the ocean. I like to remove -15 db of peaks from loud singers. Its also similarly cool for burying horns or guitars in the mix. On occasion, its totally amazing to pummel a snare with a slow return time.

for every case where its tone fits the sound you're going after, it's an incredible tool. Think of it as a balloon that will keep stretching and stretching as you push more and more sound into it. It's pretty forgiving about laying into it without leaving you with too much squashing or gasping sound. GREAT GREAT GREAT for tracking! and it doesn't have so many knobs that you'd end up with an inpatient and uninspired musician by the time it's dialed in.
