Daking consoles truly amazing sonics.

I owned the prototype of Geoff's series one console.

Actually, I'm the guy that asked him to build a console, and funded it.
Took 7 years, but it was a thing of beauty!

Geoff is probably THE MOST underrated console designer in this industry.
His consoles are amazing sonically.
Think, class A vintage sonics circa 1970, only with today's aesthetics.

A thing of beauty.

I bought a 48ch SSL Duality Delta for my studio 2 years ago. Its been one of the best things I've ever done for workflow and client appeal. Tracking bands and tactile mixing have become fast and efficient. Rock solid SSL reliability and sound quality. HUI DAW integration works well for faders and sends but not as fancy as Eucon for plugins and such.

Old thread popped up, but I have to throw in Ark8 as a "modern console" option. I've spent the last month working through details and talking to them. The whole thing is modular (you could even start with a master section only), and they are working on a number of options including transport control and fader automation.

Ordered mine 2 days ago. Can't wait to get it into my studio!

A 8 channel desk in a small 8 channel frame with master modul and psu
is about 20000 EUR.

In a bigger frame with PSU and master modul included
with 16 mono channels 34000 EUR
with 24 mono channels 52000 EUR

up to 48 channels are possible and prices differ depending if you choose mono or stereo input channels.

I’m sure they’re great but for that sort of cash there are lots of other options new and second hand.

Well, the Zähl AM1 desk is not cheap in the double sense of the word.

To make the prices more transparent here some more info.

1500 EUR for a single input channel
1900 EUR for a stereo input channel
2500 EUR for the master module
4500 EUR for big frame up to 48 channel with PSU
2000 EUR for small frame (8 channels) with PSU

On every input channel you have input A an input B and the same EQ as used in the EQ1 module (Series 500).
High quality faders with real off switch when pulled down totally. When the PAN pot is in zero position it is bypassed. Extremely versatile routing and direct outs and a lot of other clever solutions.

AM1 Mixing Console | Zahl Elektronik-Tontechnik

Finally the sound (or transparency from input to output when all pots are on zero) is the most important thing. If there are lots of other options is of course a very individual decision and can only be made when you compare it side by side with an alternative you have in mind.

Ark console
Thank you for the support
(and for the order)

We have been working really hard to make sure the Ark8 is a "classic analogue console" upgraded for todays workflow.

I received a very nice compliment a couple of days ago when doing a workshop in Switzerland. One of the famous producers / engineers attending stated: "if you design an analogue console today, this is the way to do it"

While getting over the positive feedback we receive from everyone putting their hands on the console, we're busy building yours.
She'll be a beauty, no doubt

Cheers
Bruno

Ya I mean what u really need is a rig like that kid down the street. You have to ask him but I think he's running an HP laptop with a Behringer interface. I hear he's really got a good sound.
