IIZ Radar Studio

Hello All,

I've upgraded my IZ radar 24 track to the new IZ studio -- its great!!! But I need a little more technical support.

I can't reach anyone at the IZ headquarters for support?

Anybody know what is going on? They do not answer their phone nor emails....

Best,

Dave Blauvelt

Mate I emailed them 6 months ago with interest on the studio and they connected me with
the Aussie distributor who wanted to sell me a nyqist card and other ****.

All I wanted was more info .

Guy said that website would be updated after Namm announcement and to this day nothing.

Last I heard there were some bugs they were trying to squash.

IZ Corp have generally been very transparent but I am wondering what is going on.

Product looks nice but I just want more info on theStudio.

Come on Barry .....give it to us now.

I know there are 3 flavours with prices ranging from 295 up to about 7-800.

Cheers

My apologies if I jumped the gun, but the software I thought you were talking about is the proposed IZ Session.

I believe they recently moved, maybe this has something to do with it?

Anyhow, it's funny, I've owned Radar recorders since 96...
Started with 1 unit and quickly bought 4 more.
I was that impressed.
The damn machines, worked perfectly for all those years.
Never a problem, just turn them on, arm a track and record...
Imagine that!

I then upgraded a few to Radar V, still flawless sonics and performance.
I was still a Happy camper.

Then a few years ago, had the V upgraded to a Radar 6, still a force to be reckoned with.
Then 2 years ago bought a new Radar Studio.(although I kept the 6)
Now all of a sudden, I have problem after problem, (all small issues mind you) but annoying to say the least.
And usually one of these little quirks happens every session.

Seeing as I don't record to a computer proper, have only recorded tracks to Radar since 96, this is very, very, disturbing to me.

Now I find myself wondering why I ever sold the original 4 Radar II's ?
It was one headache I never had...
Go figure

I am totally pleased with the Radar Studio rebuild - 24 I/O to my console -- Reaper works great! Radar mode great -- just need guidance for porting Radar project to Reaper/protools etc. No manual.UAD octo too!

Hope everything is cool with Barry & the gang

The 800 # is no more
Calls are no longer answered by a receptionist instead I get a phone tree
My main support person is "no longer with the co."
Support has changed from quick human interactions to sporadic emails
No further information concerning new products scheduled for Q1 2017 release
This is so............ concerning
Barry, explanation please

iZ support

I upgraded my problem-free RADAR 24 to a RADAR Studio at the beginning of 2017 and for the most part everyone at iZ was responsive in helping me resolve some issues and confusion. They rushed my unit through a repair and overnighted it to me so I could have it in time for a session. This was a month ago.

Since then, I've been trying to get some questions answered and have had little to no response.

Barry is a good guy and he's committed to supporting his products. I hope that everything there is okay and whatever is going on gets resolved soon.

You mentioned several small problems. Did the problems occur when running in Radar Mode or in Workstation (DAW) Mode?
Thanks.

I was having problems with dropouts in radar mode. They suggested I should change out my hard drive bays ,they sent me some replacements ,but I never change them out , lately in radar mode things have been rock solid as well as workstation mode, which leaves to believe it could be a hard drive issue, sometimes in workstation mode my Iz studio controller will lose connection with protools, but that is about it.So my question to everyone that is using a radar, what solid state drive is the most compatible with radar studio?Right now I am using Samsung or Kingston, protools doesn't seem to be as picki, never had a problem, but radar mode can be.

There was a problem with a certain run of drive bays that caused small audio data to either drop or be misplaced. After we replaced the bays with new ones provided by IZ, this issue went away. There is a video that will step you through the process

Do the new bays get wired the same way as the lockable bays?

Please check with IZ. We did get some docs with the new bays but its been several months since we replaced the old ones. The new bays fixed our problems.
