studer 169 question

HI,

i've bought a studer 169 mixing desk and it's on it's way
i'm wondering if i should worry if there are DSE channels in it ?
and how can i recognise these to the original studer 169 channel strips ?

You just bought it without seeing it for real ?? Wow, that's a risk....

DSE channels would not have the name STUDER on the printed circuit boards.
Original Studer equipment has the name Studer printed all over parts and p.c. boards.

I've seen pictures of the desk and it's one to have a service , bought it from studio who don't use it anymore , i'll post pictures soon when i have it

Where did you get t from?
If it came from europe then it is probably not one of the south korea clones.

Hopefully it´s recapped. The original caps are PITA at this age....

ok i have it ! it's very nice condition , not recapped yet!
it's original studer ! what's makes me happy
not tested yet , but i'll start with clean up , and recap like in the link i
found in this forum , i hope it's sounds great !

for now , i'll have no further questions , but i i'll have later on !

Mixing on my Studer 269 has been nothing but a pleasure. These desks are amazing. I have the breakout box which lets me using the monitor out for tracking and has a second master out. Straightforward mod for direct out from each channel makes it even more versatile. The sound is really 3D and warm.

i can only join this praise ... its unbelievable - it almost mixes itself. the amount i have to do to get a warm, punchy in yer face sound is almost zero. what a hassle i had before with a midas venice f32. i´m still not sure if that one is sounding sooooo bad or the studer sooo good. its probably both
