Never used a latte but I just got a hold of Josh's new ss 8ch DA converter. DA8-T
VERY NICE! Its designed for multichannel mixing, but I have no reservations using it as a 2ch reference.

Thanks guys for the input. Monitor off the through print. I am sorry i do not understand. I know that the Da is colored what do you guys use the Da for? just trying to find other uses for the Da. I have a Mytek x8 192 that i mix from but i wanted a better Da for mixing for i thought about my Latte. But i think that is Colored. Also just wondering did any of you try a forsell? and comprare it to a Latte? I know it sounds nuts. i like the jcf Latte but i i do need a great da for mixing. thanks i know i sound like a broken record.

My feeling is that you can do fine work monitoring through the Latte's DA

I use a Prism ada8-xr which is very costly

I would think a Mytek would be great for DA chores

If I only had the Latte DA I wouldnt be upset though

I would check other sources through it so I know what to expect

Like Aja or Brubeck or other work I know very well as a reference.

I used to use The Hedd which is lovely as well.

FWIW, I love the thing... only converter I mixed through for YEARS. Thing is, I retired from professional audio [I'm a saloon owner now], so I don't really have a use for it [I was thinking about using for D/A conversion for the house... and using the A/D for running my vinyl into digital storage... but frankly -- that's kind of "overkill"].

If you're interested in one, PM me and let's work out a price. Its in perfect condition.

Peace

Spektor,
Here is how you use the Latte DAC for mixing;

You start out with your Computer Mix. You send all your Tracks to the Latte DAC, and patch that into your monitoring.

Now you listen, and Mix Through the unit. When you feel like a genius you re-record the mix back into the computer.

At least that is how I would use the Latte DA. Besides all the other ways it could be used.

peace

YES! The DA8-T is a new JCF Audio product, it is an Eight Channel solid state DAC that is 1RU like the AD-8. It is available to order with, or without PEP.

Al Schmitt has one and every mix we've done since he got it many years ago has been printed through that converter at 192KHz. Still the best sounding converter I've ever heard.

Were mixing through an analog console, but when we monitor the playback of the mix, it's through the DA on the Latte.

Motu 112D has 3x AES I/O for 24 ins/outs on AES.

Also has 24 ADAT I/O and MADI on USB or thunderbolt.

It's 96khz max samplerate for some dumb reason though.

Probably the best option for interfacing with 24 I/O of JCF.

I use Metric Halo ULN-8 3D via AES for my JCF's... It's nice because the built in mic pres are actually very nice and have split direct analog outs for the AD8 with PEP and you can still monitor in realtime via the builtin AD and the nice MHConsole.

Oh snap! Would you look at that! I thought focusrite rednet or symphony would be my option when I hit the end of the PT/HDX train. That would be even cheaper! I have a lot of years before I have to worry about this -- it will be interesting to see what options are available when the time comes.

Also -- aren't most AES/EBU interfaces limited to 96k? Avid HDIO digital isn't (what I run), but I know rednet is.

Most new AES devices are usable up to 192K
