BAR 10dc vs AML 54f50 vs Chandler Limited TD2

Hi Guys
I am deciding on these 3 units BAE 10dc, AML 50f54 and the tg2.
I am looking for something to track and 2buss.
Smooth and with some character.
I read that the BAE is more versatile but I don't
Know...
Any personal info. and/or samples would greatly appreciated it.
Thanks in advanced.

I had the 10DC and 50f54. Both are very cool for tracking. The 50f54 is definitely darker. Very big low-end. A little bit too much for me, but i guess that's a matter of taste. I didn't find it very usable on Mixbuss for that reason. But again, might work for someone else just because of that.
The 10DC sounds more open and forward. It doesn't have that huge low-end. Has more bite. Make sure to get the version with sidechain filter. Especially for Mixbuss.

I own the 54F50, which Colin made an additional 100ms release.
I think it's fantastic, for tracking and mixing.

Warm, deep/fat, and thick sounding. I really like to use it on vocals, bass, acoustic guitars, and anything else that is mono.
2/1 knocking off 2-6db is really musical and natural sounding, too. The gain knob is also cool for adding color in terms of make up gain.

The TG2 would be much more aggressive at least in limit mode IMO, but then again it's a stereo unit so easier to work with drums and stereo sources.

The TG2 is a preamp... It doesn't have a limit mode.

I'm sure, the OP means the Chandler LTD-2.
The Chandler version in the 2254 family

It's seems the BAE 10dc would be more versatile and less color...
I like color I just don't want it to overwhelm...
Can you crank the BAE or AML for more saturation/distortion?

I own a pair of AML comps and they're awesome, but like original 2254s, I really wish they had side-chain filters. Without them they're somewhat limited depending on the program material. They are gorgeous sounding boxes though.

BAE now have a 10dcf that have the filters. I'd be inclined to go that route.

Hey Buddy, Thank you so much for taking the time to
post your thought, I really appreciate it.
And know that you've brought a really good point
Of view that I was not looking at.
Do you think using the AML 54f50 with eq might help
and justify the buy of the AML?
Tone wise...
Thanks again for time the time.

I think the AML doesn't have a sidechain option. But that doesn't mean that it isn't very cool for tracking or subgroups.
Try to get demo units of both.

Thank you Brother for your reply.
I'm trying but it's difficult for me to...
Are there any gearslutz Brothers that can lend a helping
Hand?
Maybe samples are owner willing to chip in?
Thank you kindly

If you want to buy EQ's, sure. My struggle is getting the low-end of the mix to sit the way I want it to without feeling to squished. It's tough to work around. If it's a softer, smooth track I tend to reach for my API 2500 for 2bus duties instead.

It's a great piece, but it's not an end-all be-all.
