Anyone use the SCHOEPS V 4 SGV

Looking to buy a new workhorse mic for my place. We mainly do TV/Film-scores... but we record lots of acoustic instruments, drums, guitars, piano and of course vocals. Been very happy with my old modified CAD E-300 (my mic guy tweaked it with a neuman m-9)... but it is big and clunky and has the tendency to break down every few years. The Schoeps caught my eye because I absolutely love their colette mics. Any other recommendations welcome.

Thanks W

I've used a Schoeps/Elvo M222 and a MKIV cap on vocals for years. It's my understanding that this SDC is engineered specifically to be useful for vocals and have some of the characteristics of an LDC. All I can say is that the combo I use sounds stunning and with the right pop shield absolutely holds it's own against vintage LDC classics, but on instruments often beats them. If this new design is better than the m222mkIV combo you'd be onto a winner.

On the Schoeps download page there are a number of reviews: Studio Vocal Microphone V4 U - Documents and downloads - SCHOEPS.de

Member Plush (mostly active in the Remote forum) is using them. Maybe ask there?
