If you like the way the 120's sound move up to the 310's

I have the older 300's and love them but like you say it's a personal thing

What do you feel you want to change most; Louder? Lower bass end? Midrange detail? Different character?

I have a bunch of sets of monitors (Twins w/sub, Genelec 1030a, Genelec 8050 w/7070 sub etc.)the Twins hold their own just fin with everything else I own but just like everything else, it takes time to get used to them in your space. I think sticking with the same brand of speaker but doing a size upgrade may be the fastest way to get back into the zone with your mixes.
