K67 capsule

Just getting into using my m269c which has a brand new k67 capsule. Using it on some vocals. I ended up switching it out for the c37a. The frequency response didn't seem very even. It sounded a bit harsh/exaggerated in the 1-3k range. It could be the mic just wasn't right for the singer. I was just alarmed because I have always heard these mics are great for aggressive singers. I almost expected the opposite result.

My question is could his be due to the brand new capsule? It doesn't seem like that should be the case. New capsule or not. I can post audio clips if it would help. I was using it with a v76/80.

Thanks.

I addressed the K870 capsule quality issue in a 2012 thread on my forum, specifically in this post: New Neumann U87 Capsules: Finally A Turn-Around in Quality?

Despite my initial relief that the capsules, after a decade of unpleasantly aggressive mids, finally seemed to have return to a balanced response, in my experience there are still too many currently-made K870 capsules with too little low end. This is likely due to diaphragm tension being too high.

Where did the capsule come from? Who made it? Is it new old stock? Etc. give us some more info.

Not many k67 capsules that are currently made have the same response curve as the old originals.

Thanks

It's new. Not NOS. It came installed in the mic from a seller in Japan. Don't know where he got it.

I'm bummed. I finally found an m269c and the capsule sounds like butt. Great. Please tell me there is a solution. From klaus' article it sounds like it can be adjusted.
