purple mc76 or mc77?

i have a line on a mc76 but i am curious if i can link that to a mc77 if i decide to buy another at some point?

or should i just stick with the mc77? are the differences worth $500 more?

any thoughts would be appreciated.

FWIW, the other day I had a guy offering quite serious $$ for my MC76, more than the price of a MC77.

I asked why he can't just buy a MC77 but apparently it HAD to be the MC76.

I didn't know there is that a big difference between them, I thought they are pretty much the same with the MC77 having slightly different metering among other small things.

I know my MC76 has the "T-bar" but the MC77 has a re-engineered solution that does the same thing.

I'd like to know too, what's the BIG difference, why did the guy want my MC76 so badly ?

It has the original purple paint on the faceplate . . . they no longer use the same sealant on the 77's.

Because some Classified gear pimp(probably here on GS) is snatching them up to drive the price up by starting rumors that the original is better than the new one.

Hey it worked for the blue stripe 1176, Gates Sta-Level, Altec 438C, Sphere EQ's,Federal compressor,Lexicon PCM42's. The prices over the last 2 years have almost doubled on Ebay because people read about them here and now they are a "must have".

Beware of the GS wolf in a GS T-shirt.

It's been a pain in the ass.

It's finally installed, and I have almost all the bugs worked out of it. It does sound fantastic though! thumbsup

I love the MC77. I have distressors and a Vari-Mu, as well as UAD emulation plugs, and the 77 has by far the most mojo. I just need to save up for two more!!!

so given these differences - i probably won't be buying another one any time soon (stereo is not a huge concern) - it seems to be a better deal to stick with the 76.

Well I work with both. I prefer the MC77 for the functions.

Who is this guy that wants to pay so much for an MC76?

Please guide him to my post, as nobody has agreed (almost but not quite) to my price yet. Grrrr.
