Sound Techniques Console type pre?

Anyone know of a preamp that would get closest to the sound of the Sound Techniques console used at Trident Studios in the 70's? You can really hear it on Elton John's Tumbleweed Connection and many parts of Bowie's Hunky Dory. So distinctive, rich and airy! I guess it was the pre cursor to the Trident A Range?

Wow, thanks. That's amazing!! I wonder when this stuff is coming? And if it would meet my measly budget! A 500 series would be nice....

Cyril Jones worked with Geoff Frost at Sound Techniques for sometime and I always found Cyril's early Raindirk designs have a similar open sound but also with that "woody" thing I identify with London in the 70s. Series 3 modules appear from time to time as do series 4 broadcast modules. ( No pun intended John Wood)

Yep, Cyril's gear has the wood in the tone. As does my Raindirk Concord.

Really curious when the channel-strips come out and how they’ll compare to the Daking pre/eq; which is amazing!

Thanks Steve. We're getting there guys. The 2RU is basically finished. We know what it sounds like. We've just got to find the time to finish it. However, we've focused our efforts this year on refining the ZR console. It's coming. Hang in there with us!
