SE Munro Egg distortion problem. Anyone have and fix?

Hi,
Would love to hear from other owners of the SE Munro Egg monitors, has anyone had problems with low level distortion/fuzz and found a way to fix it? I've narrowed it down that it's definitely not the recording chain as it's there on a variety of recordings. I've tried turning my computer monitor off and moving the amplifier (maybe not far enough?). I have noticed a hum sometimes that went away when I turned off the halogen light on the other side of the room, this is not that. I've tried turning all the lights off, no effect. It's not a constant noise, it depends on the level of the audio, gets worse when I turn the amplifier up. Sounds like it could be distortion from the microphone or preamp, but it's definitely not that, but it sounds like overdriven fuzz. Now that I write this I think I'll try swapping the fuse just in case.

But offhand, anyone else go through this? I really like how these monitors sound and have been very happy with them otherwise.

thanks
Augustus
