Will any old EQ do on a C2 sidechain?

Does the eq on a compressor side chain have to be any good or will any cheap thing do? The actual audio itself isn't passing through it so I wouldn't have thought it mattered, but I have been wrong before!

I've got a Smart C2 and would like to see how taking a bit of low end (100hz'ish Hi pass) will effect things.

Anyone else tried this?

Thanks in advance

sure why not. as long as the frequencies and transients are pretty accurate. does your comp have a "key listen"? I always find this to be a handy feature for quick setup. If not you can mult the output, and monitor it. (the output of the eq heh before it enters the comp)
