BURL AD linked with UA 2192

Hello,

Is it possible to use a Burl Bomber AD converter for the AD conversion and then link it with a UA 2192 for the DA conversion ?
Thanks for your help
Regards

Hmm.

I've had both (though not at the same time) and I believe you still
need an audio interface to communicate with the DAW somewhere in there.

Or at least, as per UA customer support, you cannot connect the 2192
directly to the computer.

Just curious - are you doing this for bouncing/mixing or for monitoring?

I suppose my first question is: why? They were both designed by the same guy, and as I understand it are similar designs.

As far as I know there is no AES card for the burl yet, so you'll need to connect them to whatever your DAW is separately, but there's no reason it shouldn't be possible. What we'd need to know to be more specific is:

what software are you using?
how are you interfacing either unit with the computer?

The Burl doesn't have an ADAT out, so I'm not sure how you'd want to connect it. You'll need some other sort of sound card, probably MADI? Then you could use the existing ADAT line for the 2192 (though keep in mind you could only run it up to 48k, which is probably plenty but is a bit of a limitation).

Just curious though: do you already own the 2192 and only need more AD, or is this whole thing a potential purchase?

I would like to use the Burl AD because I find it warmer (has transformers) than UA 2192 for AD conversion and then use the 2192 for the DA back to my soundcard in adat or spdif.

Sounds like a good idea ?

Sergio
