Telefunken V72 Preamp & Neumann U87

Hello, I want to connect a vintage Neumann U87 to a Telefunken/Siemens V72 preamp. What is the best/securest way to do that? I've heard that 48V phantom power can damage the input section of the V72. I could run my Neumann U87 with batteries. Please help. Thanks alot.

If your chain is mic-->phantom power-->preamp, it should have no effect on the preamp at all. I have an EMI desk with 10 channels of V72S pres and retrofitted phantom on each input, no problems at all, but I still tend to use an AKG N66 out in the live room because it's what I've always done. Go have fun. :-)
