Building your own mics

I would like to start learning about mic construction, I'm thinking it would be great to start by building a diy ribbon or LDC. Has anyone here done this before? Any pointers, ideas for a good first project?

Those g7's look amazing Jakob!

Danv, if you're looking for a good first project for a LDC, Dave Royer did an article for Tape Op a while back about modding the Marshall MXL 2001 to make it a tube mic. This'd be a bit easier than building one from scratch if this is your first project of this kind.
