Suggestions on alternative to expensive Jensen transformers...?

(first time post, but long time electronics technician/DIYist...)

I'm looking for an alternative to the expensive Jensen transformers as a source to build some high end MIC PREAMPS.

Obvisously, I don't want to spend $70 per XFMR (there are two per channel) and I want to build a four or six channel preamp! That adds up for the average person.

I don't know about you, but I'm not loaded with money, so I'm on a budget.

Any feedback or help is much appreciated.

I would save and go for the one you really want. Build one channel at a time if you have to. It will still be alot cheaper than a $3500.00 pre.

Well, with somewhat limited experience, Cinemag looks to be a decent alternative.

Lundahl....errr...if you live in Europe...and they are neither very cheap nor very colored. Do yourself a favour and don't go cheap on the transformers, you will save a lot on building the pre yourself...think about it, will that extra 40 bucks haunt you some years down the road or will a bad transformer make you wake up screaming in the night? If I think about it, even I did never have bad dreams about transformers. Sowter?

Cinemag is every bit as good as Jensen in my opinion.
