PZM that doesn't need power battery?

Is there such a thing?

Failing this, is there a mic recomended for outdoor use over the long term (2 weeks) that is discrete (visually) and doesn't need power (dynamic ) with shot gun or hyper-cardioide charateristics?

You can make a PZM yourself with an omnidirectional dynamic mic capsule by mounting it close to a surface. The easiest way to do this is to drill a hole in a wall that's just big enough to fit the mic into with a rubber gasket around it.

Thanks, but not sure I understand. Doesn't it have to reflect off a surface and not just be parallel to the surface? Any links to this kinda project?

A PZM or a boundary microphone is nothing more than an onmidirectional mic mounted on or close to a flat surface. If you can mount a microphone in a wall, you have a boundary mic.
