i received a pair of mackie mr8 mk1's and they both started making some buzzing problems and will not pass sound anymore. apparently a common problem during the life of these things, but it seems most occurred under warranty. i am assuming someone might now what it is.
i was curious if anybody has an idea of what the problem is and how to fix it.
This is a blown amplifier. A notorious problem with these badly built speakers. I've owned four of them. Two of them blew the amps right after warranty, and a third one blew the woofer. Always listening at below 85 db while mixing. Managed to cobble a working pair out of the disassembled parts. Would never buy anything from Mackie again. We might have predicted this would happen when they moved their manufacturing from Washington State to China. Good hunting.
