Deoxit Gold question

I have been having intermittent trouble with the gold edge connectors on my Cadac A type console.

Any ideas what the best product is to improve the connection?

I've been looking at the Caig deoxit gold products but there is quite a range available and i can't work out what the best option is for this application.

I've also read differing opinions on whether the caig products are good for the longevity of the connectors. I don't want to etch away gold needlessly if these products are too harsh on the connectors.

Any advice or experiences with these products gratefully received.

If they are EDAC style .062" thick standard edge connectors, I clean them with a non residue contact cleaner. That eliminates the Caig products as they leave a film behind to collect more dirt.

I use packing cardboard cut into strips. I soak the end with the cleaner and work it in and out of the slots.

Mr Williams is dead on here, his trick with cardboard is a good one. The Caig products are a quick 'fix', but leave a residue that seems attract dirt quickly, can eat cap's if sprayed all around, and can result in the dreaded green grunge [on silver or copper] after a few years...
